Book

This easy-to-understand and exceptional guidebook aims to create an effective and successful goalkeeper training that can be successfully integrated into team training.

The book is based on the experience values of the two DFB football teachers Christian Titz and Thomas Dooley and the valuable experience of many companions from the professional and amateur sport for many years.

It deals in introductory form with the general principles, the position play, the tasks, the leg attitude and the technical execution of the goalkeeper. Three views were used: that of the goalkeeper trainer, that of the goalkeeper and that of the field player trainer. The combination of these three levels has created this collection of exercises.

A goalkeeper must be universal in his requirement profile. He should have an enormous ability to react, have high qualities in the control of the penalty area, as a resting pool to convey safety to the team and at the same time order it from behind. At the same time it should be above average in the areas of coordination, jumping power/explosivity and in 1:1 situations.

Not to forget that the main part of the goalkeeper's actions is the opening of the game with the foot and the hand. These skills are called up in the form of throwing off, kicking off, teeing off, passing out of movement or passing by accepting the ball and taking it with him beforehand. All these facets are illuminated in this work and presented in a multiplicity at training examples tested in practice both graphically and by means of numerous Tipps, pieces of advice and detailed exercise and movement descriptions.

Foreword by Christian Titz and Thomas Dooley:
The goalkeeping game has changed dramatically in recent years. Nowadays a goalkeeper must not only be able to hold on to balls or fend them off, but also actively participate in the game as a player opener. Thus the modern goalkeeper represents a kind of libero, who must try to organize the defense and to initiate fast tempo kicks with own ball possession.

If the opponent is tactically good in the defense, he acts as a ball distributor. If the opponent is aggressive in forechecking, he also acts as a starting point. The goalkeeper should therefore always be able to adjust to new game situations and keep the ball in play with his foot. Whether flat short pass play with the inside or long inside shots in the form of an introductory attack pass. Whether throw-off, kick or tee shot; the goalkeeper must now have all the passing techniques at his disposal and must not neglect the actual goalkeeper game.

We have tried in this book to take all these requirements into account and we believe to present a very comprehensive and practice-oriented work that includes all facets of goalkeeper play. In the process, we have also benefited from the numerous, valuable experiences of many In this book, we have tried to meet all these requirements and we believe we have produced a very comprehensive and practical work covering all facets of goalkeeper play. We have also made use of the numerous, valuable experiences of many companions, which make this work all the more interesting and multi-faceted.
